Membership
There are more than 1600
members in the Cambridge Central Branch. Most are employed in
the larger companies, such as local aircraft maintenance firm
Marshall Aerospace, whose Joint Shop Stewards Committee helped
set up this web site.
Branch Members are employed by the
organisations listed here.
There are a percentage of our members that are "single members",
they work outside the workplace group, typically in small
businesses which have no official union recognition. These
members are still better off being a member of Amicus, as they
will receive expert representation and legal advice, not just
work related.
There are also about 200 retired members who wish to stay in
touch with the union and sometimes need the advice and support
of the union even though they are no longer in full-time
employment.
Unemployed members remain in membership with full rights and pay
no subscriptions for as long as they are unemployed. However,
they must notify the Regional office or Branch Secretary to
qualify for this and to prevent a build up of arrears.
All members, whatever their status, have the right to
participate in the Branch's activities.
If you are not yet a member of Amicus and wish to become a
member please

Branch Officers
Branch Meetings are held on
the third Thursday of each month starting at 7.30pm at Cambridge
University Sports and Social Club, Mill Lane, Cambridge, (upstairs meeting room). All
members welcome.
